the stolen diamond

I was reading my usual newspaper when an old man enter my office

"Good morning sir what can I do for you" I said in a cheerful tune

"MR. Steve I know you are a smart detective and I need your help" said the old man looking anxious and worried

"Sure what is the problem"I said

"I forget to introduce myself I am James Bronks" he said quickly

"Are you the famous business man" I said

"Yes detective” he said

"I hear that a very expansive diamond had been stolen from 
you" I said

"And that is the problem, I think one of my family stole it" said the old man

"Why didn’t you tell the police" I said

"I don’t wantpeople to talk about our family but I need your help" he said

"Absolutely sir "I said feeling excitement about this new adventure

"Thank you I need you to stay 3 days in my house” he said

After that MR. Bronks arranged my visit to his house and I arrived atthe house at 6 pm

MR. Bronkstell me about his family before we get there.

His first daughter Mrs. Margret the oldest one and her husband MR. George Smith and their daughter sally that lives with her husband in France

And the second one is his son MR. Michael Bronks and his wife Mrs. Eliza Bronks and their daughter Anna 20 years old and the son Alex 15 years old the last one is his youngest son MR. David he is 30 years old and didn’t married yet.

All the family lives in MR. Bronks house

After a 2 hour I tried to talk with each one of the family and I started with the oldest one Mrs. Smith

"Hello Mrs. Smith I need you tell what you know about the case and don’t live anything,” I said looking carefully at her eyes

"It was in the midday when I was in the kitchen helping the house keeper with the lunch, I heard shouting when I hurry up to see what is about it was my father yelling at David he always do that when he see him careless about the family business at that time my dad was very upset and he went upstairs to his room after 10 minute he came downstairs shouting that his diamond disappear and that is all what I remember" Mrs. Smith said

"Before you hear the argument between your dad and brother where you think was the rest of the family” I said

"My husband was in the work Anna was in her room studying and I remember that Eliza was taking care of her son he didn’t went to school that day because of the high fever he had" said Mrs. Margret Smith

"I see and do you know where MR. Michel was that day,” I said writing all the information in my note

"I don’t know I don’t remember seeing him that day"said Mrs. Margret trying to remember anything else

The second one was MR. Michael Bronks

“Sit down MR. Michael and tell me whatyou know about the missing diamond,” I said

 “I was reading my daily news paper when suddenly I hear father shouting about his diamond” said MR. Michael

“Do you remember the time?” I said

“I was reading about half an hour a 10 am until 10: 30” said MR. Michael

“Where you were before that?” I said

"I was taking shower about an hour" said MR. Michael

"Are there any witness except you" I said

"What do you mean detective that I mightlay" said MR. Michael in angry voice

Smiling said “calm down sir i didnt mean that”

after that the rest of the family said the same thing nothing was suspicios

At the end I talked to Mr. Bronks to take some details

"Did you know who take it" said Mr. Bronks

"Not yet sir I still need time " I said

"Yes detective I trust you" he said in calm voice it was weird for someone who had been stolid from him a diamond!

"I need you to tell me when the last time you saw the diamond was" I said

"It was at 9 am when I opened the box to see the diamondand  it was there " he said

"Do you clocked your door when you are not there" I said

"Yes every time and when I am going to bed I clocked my door" said Mr. Bronks

"That really confusing are there anyone who have another key except you" I asked him

"No one detective Steve and I am sure about it" said Mr. Bronks

After that I was in my room trying to solve these case when someone knocked on my door

"Come in MR. Michael are there any problem" I said

"Detective Steve can I talk to you" said MR. Michael with pale face

"Yes of course do you remember something" I said

"Actually I am ….Who stole the diamond" he said

I was very shocked about his confession

"It was you how and when you stole it"I said

"My dad always keep his room key in his pocket one day he forget it in the office and I take the chance to copy the key yesterday my father was late and all the house was sleeping I opened my father room and take the diamond" he said

How he could steal it at that time MR. Bronks said that the last time was 9 am maybe he mean 9pm

"I am sorry but this diamond was the reason why our father didn't trust us he always said that no one will keep our family's legacy and we will sell it" he said with regret expression

"It is okay sir you can apologize to your father and return the diamond" I said trying to calm him

"I can't look at my dad in this condition he is so depressed,” said MR. Michael

"As I said it is not late you can apologize to your dad" I said

After that I agreed with MR. Michael to return the stolen diamond after the dinner I was feeling relief that the case solved by herself until someone else knocked at my door I opened the door and it was MR. Michael's daughter Annashe seemed confused and scared.

"Detective Steve I need your help" she said in worry voice

"Sure young lady” I said trying to comfort her

"I am the one who stole the diamond" she said looking at the floor

“WHAT? WHENYOU STOLE IT“I said shocked how she could stole it if her father is the criminal

"When my grandfather and uncle David was argument grandfather room was opened I take the chance and stole it"

"Are you sure about what you are saying" I said

"Yes detective my dad worked very hard and even uncle David but grandfather never trust anyone all that because of that diamond he always says that if he dead they will sell it " she said crying

"Calm down Mrs. Anna can you tell me the reason why Mr. Bronks sure that you will sell the diamond" I said

"Before 5 years ago our company get bankrupt and we were in trouble my dad and uncle tried to convince grandfather to sell the diamond they keep telling grandfather that without trying to do anything else my grandfather never listen to them and tried very hard until he succeed without selling the diamond after that grandfather never trust them" said Anna

"That the reason " I said

"Yes I know what they did wasn’t right but everyone make a mistake,” she said with lower voice

"Ok you can give me the diamond and I will try to solve the situation,” I said

MR Michael said that he will give me the diamond tomorrow morning

While Anna gave me the diamond right away 

After the dinner all the family gathered together in the living room

"Attention everyone I have something to tell you" I said

I can tell how nerves both Anna and MR. Michael was

"The one who stole the diamond is MR. Bronks" I said confidently

"What"

"What are talking about?"

"That’s crazy"

All the family was surprised and I can tell they think I was crazy except the only one who was so calm and quit MR. Bronks himself

"I understand that is weird how can the owner be the criminal" I said

"But detective do you forget" said Anna

“NoMrs. Anna I didn’t forget you confession" I said

"What what confession I am who stole the diamond" said MR. Michael

Everyone was confused and quit

"You know now why I trust you" said MR. Bronks in very calm and deep voice

"You are the one who take the diamond and put a fake one the diamond that was with Anna any diamond experience can tell is a fake one it was less heavier than real diamond and has scratch on it and to think about it you were so calm and why will someone put a expensive diamond on the house and not in the bank " I said

"But why MR. Michael confess if Anna take the fake diamond" said MRS Margret 

"I think Anna can tell us" I said looking directly at her

"I was in the house when I saw father taking grandfather key and I guess he was planning to take the diamond and I was right I was so scared if grandfather find out he will Deprived of inheritance" said Anna with wet eyes

"I am sorry it is because of me" said MR. Michael to his daughter

"I just want to know why MR. Bronkdo that" I said

"Detective Steve I am a father and I can tell how my family hate that diamond the sad thing is that they never care about our family's legacy I knew they will try to take that diamond so i put a fake "

"Why you call me if you are who take the diamond" I said

"Because I wasn’t sure who take it” he said

"I think the case ends know" I said smiling

"Thank you detective for helping us" said MR. Bronks

"I didn’t do anything the two confession make every think confused first but help me at the end" I said laughing

After that the Bronk's family tried to understand each other and to know the MR. Bronk didn’t care about the diamond but about the family legacy and these was the first case that confused me that much because of the two confession.
